Samuel Bonnet is a guitarist, composer, and educator whose artistic identity lies “at the crossroads of jazz and classical music.” Born in 1980 in Haifa and raised in the Paris region, he discovered classical guitar early on before turning to jazz, performing professionally by the age of sixteen. After earning a degree in musicology in Paris, he moved to Canada in 2009 to complete a master’s degree in classical guitar at the Université de Montréal.
His training includes international experiences such as the Domaine Forget Academy, the Alternative Guitar Summit in the United States, and private lessons in New York. There he rubs shoulders with masters such as Roland Dyens, Manuel Barrueco, John Scofield, Bill Frisell, Wolfgang Muthspiel and Chico Pinheiro.
Now based in Montreal, he has become a distinctive voice on the Quebec and international scenes. His music, infused with jazz, blues, and Middle Eastern influences, reflects his plural roots. He collaborates with renowned artists and performs across North America, Europe, and the Middle East. Leader of the Samuel Bonnet Trio, he continues to develop a hybrid creative approach, notably showcased in his album “Hybride” (2022).
He also teaches at the École de musique Vincent‑d’Indy and contributes to pedagogical development. As an artist‑researcher, he builds bridges between tradition and innovation, asserting a unique voice in today’s musical landscape.
